We are proud to present the first stable version of the German Army Mod for SQUAD. We received a lot of feedback for our B1 Playtest at the end of 2024. We worked to remove all the Bugs you guys found and implement your suggestions for faction balancing. The graphic below summarizes the statistics of our first open playtest:

Thank you to everyone who participated! Of course it took us a while to work our way through your findings and suggestions, but what really held us up, more than we liked, was the port to UE5 from the old SQUAD vanilla UE4.27 version. Most importantly: We made it!!! Thank you for your patience in 2025! Let’s begin 2026 with a fun round of B2 playtesting of the Bundeswehr Faction Mod.

BW-Mod Soft Launch

This time, we would like to keep the Mod live for everyone to enjoy after the playtest weekend, even if it is not an official V1 release for us (we need a bit more time for polishing and adding a few more content bits). Our fans waited 5 years for this moment and we won’t keep our content from your hands any longer. This time we are not organizing an open range day, so you might find some more minor bugs at the beginning, but i think it is important for the team to enjoy a few free days after working through the first half of their christmas holidays. Expect one or two patches or updates in january 2025, following the coming playtest weekend.

What is new?

Most of you already know what awaits the community, but for everyone who is new to the mod:

Infantry Mechanics:

  • Double optics on various infantry rifles (G36A3, G36KA3, G28E2) with updated PiP integration
  • Terrapin Laser range finder for infantry use (DMR, Sniper, SL)
  • Bunkerfaust as a HAT alternative, with the capability to fight enemies behind solid cover, such as building walls and the strength of a HEAT LAT at the same time
  • PETN Satchel with a remote and the strength of 3x C4 sticks
  • A Sniper Role with the G22A2 and a long range scope
  • G22A2 received correct damage value (one shot kill on infantry) and armour penetration depth (infantry behind armoured glass and 5 rds to kill an APC engine behind max. 20 mm steel)
  • The HK MG4 with custom sounds is playable now
  • HK P8 Pistol sight rework
  • The G3 variants have new custom sounds
  • Smoke Grenade got fixed
  • Various animation reworks
  • A new Raider role with a Holosight on a custom G36KA3
  • Updated Placeholder models for Character models incl. 3x biom camouflage (Forest, Desert, Winter)
  • Updated Role Setups for various Bundeswehr subfactions

General Faction Updates:

  • Working Erdziellafette Emplacement (Free standing MG3 tripod and Bunker asset)
  • Raised MG3 emplacement ammo count to 2oo rds per magazine
  • Updated Faction FOB Radio Model
  • New German FOB Radio chatter
  • Updated Repair Station model
  • New Vehicle Firing Position emplacement
  • New Steel Tank Hedgehog emplacement
  • New sound cues made by professional voice actors (we still could use some donations for financing this level of quality, see at the end of the page)
  • New Battlegroups / Subfactions (PzBat. 513 as armored battlegroup and OP Support Bat. 11 as Logistics Battelgroup) incl. unique vehicle / asset setups to strengthen their unique characters (See slidshow below for more details)

Vehicle Ability Update:

We invested a lot of time in bringing vehicle gameplay to the best standard possible with our abilities. Our wheeled and tracked vehicles received realistic settings for engines, gears, clutches, weight, armor values and weapons abilities in UE5. We believe all changes we did, are working with vanilla factions as opponents. A special update is the Auto Zeroing feature for Boxer IFV and Leopard 2A6M. Mind: We nerfed this feature by introducing a “calculation timer”. The Video below from a fan is demonstrating this feature on a range (a previous version without the calc delay and calc sound cue).

Bundeswehr Mod Missions

The latest addition to our mod is a Bundeswehr faction mod version of the vanilla Missions! Play Search and Destroy (SAD) Missions on Sumari Bala & Fallujah or Combined Arms on Mutaha against bots. Ideal for everyone who is new to the game or wants to explore our faction mod with 4 friends. Subscribe our mod and select it in the Missions menue. Courtesy by our Cpt.Brotzeit.
